Help!!! I can't stand the snoring!!!!!

Snoring Zzzzzzzzz....... Seems to be a pretty common complaint. If you sleep in the same bed as someone who snores, or for some people, the same house, this can seriously disturb your sleep, giving you a good reason to complain.

What causes snoring?

"Snoring occurs when the upper airway passage at the back of the mouth becomes somewhat restricted. This happens because when you lie down to sleep, the muscle tone in the back of the throat...including the tongue... begins to loosen up.
As muscles relax, the tongue will ease itself to the back of the throat, causing restricted airflow, and hence, snoring vibrations as a person breathes in and out.
Snoring tends to be worse for people who sleep on their backs."

Can snoring be helped by essential oils? I say, " give it a try!"

Essential oils & blends that may offer some help:

Geranium, lavender, marjoram, cedar wood, eucalyptus, sweet basil, Trish's Snoring blend of all the above or RC blend.

How do you use these essential oils to help?

Blend oils or blend in a carrier oil and massage neck and throat before bed, or you can try massaging the blend on the feet before bed, you can try applying a drop or two of RC or other blend to the base of the big toe (the reflex point for the neck)  before going to bed or if you sleep with someone who snores and they wake you up with their snoring, try massaging the oil at the base of the toe while they are still asleep and snoring. Can try adding the blend or oils to a room spray or diffuser to use in the bedroom before bed.

Well, hopefully one or more of these ideas will work for you and your "snorer" so you can get a peaceful night's sleep!

White Angelica

I don't know about you but I have had quite a bit of stress in my life over the past two years. There has been some stress in my family, and as we all know, everyone deals with stress differently so we have 5 people in my family, all handling our stress differently. That is a lot of different emotions swirling around our house most of the time.
As one family member may deal with the stress by feeling angry and getting short tempered with others in the family, or another may be sad and emotional, crying at the drop of a hat.
White Angelica is a blend of essential oils that help to "ward off the bombardment of negative energy"~ taken from the Reference Guide for Essential Oils. Helping to increase the aura around the body bringing strength and protection against negativity and outside influence. This is a blend of 10 different essential oils. It's beautiful scent bringing instant peace (it has this effect for me). Helping to bring feelings of peace, self love, confidence and joy, it also helps to release emotional blocks and instills a positive outlook on life.
Wow, who doesn't need a bottle of that in their pocket? Great to keep on hand for to protect yourself from a negative co-worker as well.
Since I began learning about Bach Flower Remedies, I discovered that the flower essence of Walnut also gives constancy and protection from outside influences. I have added 2 drops of walnut to my small bottle of white angelica that I keep on me at all times. I LOVE it!!!!!!!
This blend could also be used in a room spray that you could spray in your home or office.

Stress & Bach Remedies

My last post was about the Peace blend and essential oils that can help with stress. I have recently discovered Bach Flower Remedies. I have to day I was super-excited to stumble across this amazing simple system.
Asking my aromatherapy instructor one day a question about an oil and talking about stress, she mentioned the Bach flower remedies and that they may be a good addition for this particular person and their emotional issues. Honestly, I had heard of the remedies but really had no idea what it was all about. I took some time to research them and found that it was something that I absolutely had to learn more about. I decided to take a course ( if you know me, you are saying "of course you did!") anyways, I am so excited that I will be able to start sharing a little about these remedies with all of you as I learn.
Bach flower remedies are a simple system developed by Dr. Edward Bach in the early 1900's. using essences from flowers to treat the emotions and underlying causes of illness and disease. By using this method, a person can treat emotions and help to bring themselves into balance and their stress level down and cut down risk of illness and disease. It is all very interesting and exciting.

Today I will just start with introducing very simply Dr.Bach's Rescue Remedy. It is the combination of 5 of his remedies that are used to treat emergency and crisis situations. It can be taken to help you face a difficult situation in a more calm and level frame of mind. It can be taken at the time of crisis or emergency to help bring your emotions back into balance, it can also be taken before an exam, a driving test, a public speaking event, visit to the dentist and flight or while awaiting important news. It usually will restore you to balance quickly in these situations. You can think of this as a "first aid kit".
The remedies are easy to take, in the case of Rescue Remedy; take 4 drops straight from the bottle or into a glass of water and sip until the emotional symptoms disappear. It's really that easy!
These remedies can be added to massage oil or room sprays in addition to essential oils as well! Also he has a rescue remedy cream for bumps, bruises and external trauma. These should be a must for every first aid kit!
Contact me for more information. I will have these remedies for sale soon as we'll as be able to make personalized blends for people. The cost is great!!! Under $20.00 for everything!

Anti~Stress oils

These days most people suffer from some kind of stress. Most of us find that the complications that pop up during our lives can interfere with our happiness at times. We are looking for something to take the edge off, something that may offer us a little peace of mind, a little joy when life's troubles catch up to us.
Essential oils have a profound effect on our emotions. Affecting the olfactory system through our sense of smell, these oils are able to offer us some relief during stressful times, some feelings of joy, a sense of peace that we long for.

A few essential oils that fit that description are:
Orange essential oil brings peace to the mind and joy to the heart.
Geranium helps us open up to new ideas, eases stress and can even trigger joyful memories.
Bergamot helps to instill optimisum  and confidence, eases depression, anxiety and stress related disorders.
Clary Sage helps with the insomnia often associated with stress. Helps depression.
Juniper berry helps with stress, anxiety, insomnia, it uplifts our spirits, clears negative energy and clears waste from the mind.

I have made an essential oil blend that contains all these essential oils. It is called PEACE

All of these oils can be used in massage or diffused into the air. Another great way to use them is by making a room mist. Add approximately 10 drops of essential oil blend to a 4 oz bottle of spring water in a spray bottle. This is great because it can be used anywhere; ay home, at the office or even in the car.

Caution: most of these oils cannot be used during pregnancy.

Clarity

In a world full of distractions, sometimes a little help to stay on course is welcome. Want to sit and read but have a hard time staying focused on your book as a thousand things cross your mind? Need to stay focused to study? Correct homework? Get a little afternoon pick me up & focus?
This blend helps with memory retention and focus. Also a great stimulant for low energy.

Clarity Young Living's blend is one you might like to try!

How can I use Clarity? Just a few drops on a cotton ball placed on your desk will create a stimulating environment. Mix a therapeutic blend ( 5 ml of Grapeseed oil and 8 drops of clarity) and use across the brow, temples and neck.
CAUTION: avoid direct sunlight when using this blend for 12 hours.

Oregano Oil

Well after getting hit pretty hard with a cold and some wicked congestion this past week, it gave me a chance to try out some of my oils and see which ones would work best for me at this time. I really loved RC blend in the diffuser and in an ointment (can also be used 3 drops mixed into a carrier oil and massaged on the chest and back).
For Sleep, as usual, my favorite is peace & calming massaged on my feet and 1 drop on a cotton ball in my pillowcase, really helps me unwind and get a restful sleep.
New for me this week; was trying Oregano Oil massaged on my chest and back and throat for congestion. I was so excited to see first hand how great this really helped to clear my congestion, not to mention how great I smelled!lol
Oregano oil works on the immune system and the respiratory system.
Be sure to blend this well into a carrier oil as it can cause skin irritation and a burning sensation.

Mid Afternoon Pick~me~up

So the mid day time has come and you feel like reaching for a coffee......lets try something new.
1 drop of lemon on the palm of your hand, rub hands together, cup over nose and mouth and inhale deeply 3 times. This will cleanse the mind. Repeat same steps with Orange essential oils to bring a feeling of joy & peace. Now repeat same steps again, this time with peppermint essential oil, the peppermint will energize and help clear up a little mid afternoon brain fog, not to mention clear the sinuses!
(the only caution is that to remember that citrus oils are photosensitive, so you don't want the oils on the backs of the hands where they will be in direct sunlight.)
Give it a try! If you don't have these oils but would like to try this, I have these three essential oils available in trial size of 20 drops each, the cost for the triplet is $8.52. This would be enough to give you a mid afternoon pick~me~up each afternoon for the month.
